Freelance Updates

Hello everyone!

This year has been crazy to say the least! I've kept myself busy with work and tons of fun and exciting projects on the side! I made a logo and some business cards for a small business called Encore Organizing - a professional home organizing, staging and redesigning company. I always love helping others build their company and seeing them super excited about their new design look.

I have been working with Tracy at Farina Bakeshop a lot, which I am loving! Designing for bakeries is one of my favorite things. I've had fun projects for birthday and wedding decorations, and also a magazine ad in the Minnesota Bride Magazine and MSP St. Paul Magazine... I am loving every moment! Stay tuned on those magazine ads! :)

Here are some things I can show you that already made their debut...

Macaron Labels and Cake Decorations ("ONE")

I have also been working on some wedding invitations for a wedding coming up in August, and this is MY DREAM. I absolutely love designing anything and everything for weddings - invitations, save the dates, table cards, or even anything crafty such as the table numbers. With that being said, I am planning on making a big purchase on a nice camera so I can start doing videography - something that I've always wanted to do. So, why not just go all out and do it now?! I will keep you updated on my photography and videography adventures!

As I mentioned before, check out my lifestyle blog to keep up with my personal life! I recently went on an adventure with Sota Clothing and I had so much fun! If you haven't checked out that company, you definitely should! It is great. :)

Hope everyone is having a great start to their summer!

The Holidays

Hi everyone!

Lately, work has been keeping me real busy! The holidays were a lot of fun with my family and friends, and now I'm just looking forward to my "spring break" vacation, and for spring weather! For our holiday party at work, we all went over to Sociable Ciderwerks in NE MPLS, and they do have some pretty good cider. Here are some pics!

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday, new year, and are having a great February! Stay warm! :)

Farina Bakeshop

Recently I got the opportunity to work on new designs for Farina Bakeshop in Excelsior! Designing for bakeries is one of my favorite things... I could do this all day, every day! ;) Here are some of the cool new things for Farina that I designed: a combined menu booklet and cute macaron box labels (aka my favorite dessert in the whole world). So glad I got this done with a quick deadline and a happy client! Looking forward to designing more for Farina Bakeshop! :)

If you are looking for some delicious baked goods, don't hesitate to put an order in at Farina Bakeshop! My family inhaled the treats I ordered at Christmas. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

Before the New Year

Wow, a lot of time has passed since I’ve last updated this blog! Life after graduation has been awesome and I’m so grateful of all the opportunities I’ve had so far. Right out of college I had the opportunity to design for a Tumbler cup company, and had a lot of fun! Now I am working at Anagram International’s Creative Studio called Studio Next and I love it! I had the opportunity to design graphics for Party City’s booth at the Hello Kitty Convention in LA, California, which turned out better than I could imagine! I am working on tons of fun projects with a lot of great people.

I’ve also had the pleasure of freelancing for great companies this year in my free time, such as Superior Aquariums, Gypsy Flyers, and Farina Bakeshop. I am especially excited to be working with a bakeshop and designing new things for them! I always love working with clients to help them make their company to how they imagine it to be, and helping improve the company with design is the best feeling! I am also excited for a few of my friends’ weddings coming up in the near future – which means save the dates, invites and designing tons of wedding decorations! Weddings are my favorite, and I can’t wait to get started for their special days!

It seemed like this year flew by! One minute it’s my senior year at UMD, and the next minute I’m a college graduate in the working world. I am grateful every day for all of the opportunities and experiences get and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for my future.

Hope everyone had an amazing year! Happy holidays to you all and hope you have an even better New Year for 2015!

Protein Shakes & Thank You's

A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to work with Cold Fusion in downtown Duluth, MN. They let me paint their bold walls with their logo and shop name! Who knew climbing up a massive ladder and balancing paint and brushes, all while drinking a delicious tea/protein shake combo would be so fun?! If anyone gets a chance to visit Duluth, stop by Cold Fusion downtown to try your own aloe, tea, and protein shake - so yummy! Thank you Cold Fusion for letting me help out with your shop!

I've also been busy writing Thank You's to all the wonderful people in my life. I had fun designing my own graduation cards to send out - for a more personalized touch! Everyone's support and encouragement has been such a blessing. I am truly lucky to have such amazing people in my life! After accomplishing graduation, I am extremely excited to see what the future has in store! Thank you everyone for always believing in me. You are all the best!

UMD Class of 2014!

The day has come! This weekend I graduated from University of Minnesota, Duluth with a BFA in Graphic Design. Going to a 4 year University was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Over the past four years I have made the most amazing friends and gained life changing experiences. I have learned so much about myself and my field, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way, and to all the wonderful faculty who taught me to work harder, be confident, and do what you love. I am more than excited to see what is in store for me in the future, and I know that it will be great because I absolutely love what I am doing.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

My Homeland

Aloha! I like to refer to my second homeland as Hawaii. You are probably thinking I am Hawaiian at this point, but unfortunately I am not. (I wish!) I fell in love with Hawaii the first time I visited, which was back in the elementary school days. I am lucky enough to go there as much as I do because my family owns a timeshare in Maui, and somehow managed to stay for two weeks this year! We went for spring break this year at the end of March, and it was amazing! If you haven't been there, I recommend visiting Maui! It is the most calming, beautiful, cultured, and friendly place. I really do feel at home when I visit. This spring break we spent a lot of time on the beach, in the ocean catching waves, eating at new places (sushi for days!), whale watching, and lots of family time! Can't complain, right?! I love the island personality where everyone is so friendly and laid back. I also am very interested in the island design for all the surf shops! Here are some fun pictures we took!

Maui, Hawaii 2014

Unfortunately, we did lose my Grandma Bernas while we were in Maui, which cut our trip short a little bit. The support from all my family and friends overwhelmed me, and I am so thankful to have such amazing people in my life. I know she is watching over us, and I think of her every moment of every day. She was my best friend, my number one fan, and had a smile that would light up any room. Love you forever, Gamma. <3

My Gamma.

There is a little update on my life! It's reaching the end of my senior year of college, so you can imagine how crazy it has been! I feel like I am a chicken running around with its head cut off, but I know it will all be worth it! Can't believe I only have about a month left until graduation! Who knew time would fly by this fast? :)

I recently got to take a trip to California February 20-24, and I absolutely loved it. I've been wanting to visit Cali forever now, so this trip was the best Christmas Present ever! My best friend Maddy turned 21 on February 22, so what a perfect excuse to make a trip down to visit! :)

I've always had a love for Hawaii, or anywhere with a beach and palm trees. I definitely fell in love with California instantly! I love the style, the atmosphere, and the food is LIFE CHANGING. I went to some of the best and most fresh restaurants I've ever been to! My favorites were Mendocino Farms, Lemonade and Urth Caffe. They have the best salads that I've ever had! I think that working in California for at least a little bit would really broaden my horizons and allow me to grow more as a Graphic Designer. Or even working with an agency that has an office over there so I can take travel time to go there as well ;)

Here are some pictures from the trip! I was mostly in the LA, Santa Monica and Venice.

I had so much fun for the long weekend and I definitely want to go back as soon as I can!

A Little Update!

Hello! First semester of my senior year at UMD has been a crazy one for me, but I am now enjoying my time off for winter break! I've had fun relaxing, drawing, and working. Well, that is a different kind of fun ;)

Anyway, some key points of my first semester of senior year was going on Design Studio Tours in Minneapolis! As the Event Coordinator of UMD's Student Design Organization (SDO), I had fun picking studios and planning tours in November. We had a great time visiting Knock, Carbon, Space 150, Kick, and Duffy. Visiting design firms inspire me and get me excited to see what the future has in store! We all took lots of tips and pointers to improve ourselves, and to learn how to get as ready as we can to apply for jobs. Applying for jobs is next on the list for me! I'm looking forward to working with others, getting new ideas, and to constantly learn.

One of my projects I've done this semester was branding a cupcake shop called "Frost Bites" located in Duluth, MN. Here is a sneak peek of the logo!

Well there's a little update on me! I'm getting everything ready for my final college semester, and I can't wait to see where I go from here!

My Own Website! = IN THE MAKING.

I am proud to announce that I have finally bought my own domain name! I've always wanted my own website and my own identity, so I'm pretty excited. I am in the process of reshooting projects to adjust it from on screen to real life. Can't wait to see what the future has in store! :)
